Karen Kunimura and A.M. Lai will appear in the Sacramento
premiere of THE WAITING ROOM by Lisa Loomer. This dark comedy explores the quest for
beauty and its cost to women's health through the ages as three women from different
centuries meet in a modern doctor's waiting room. Ms. Kunimura portrays a wealthy
eighteenth-century Chinese woman with bound feet and first wife of a Chinese businessman
played by Lai. They join the ensemble cast of ten directed by Maggie Upton.
THE WAITING ROOM opens with a pay-what-you-can preview, Thursday, September 7, 8 PM, at
the Actors Theatre, 1616 Del Paso
Blvd. (near Arden Way), Sacramento. It continues on the following dates: September
8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 PM
and Sunday performances (Sept 17 & 24) are at 2 PM. Tickets are $15. For
